Through the Window- Night 2

Last night Remix was back with Ryan continuing our Through the Window series. He discussed different avenues for worship in our lives that we don't typically think of as areas in which to worship God. Here's a quick summary of Ryan's message:

Session 2: We Are His (08/24/11)
Have you ever thought of your anger, pain and sadness as an avenue for worship? We often think that worship is only about expressing our feelings to God when we are happy and life is going just as we want it to. But, God is big enough to hear our complaints too! As a matter of fact, God wants us to be honest with Him—and not just kind of honest, completely honest. Worship is about other people and it’s also about the beautiful, authentic relationship we have with the One who made us and knows us inside and out. Authentic worship is what reminds us that we belong to God.
Parent Cue: What do you think about the idea that even our angry feelings can be used as worship? How does knowing that God can handle that part of you change your view of Him?

Try to find a couple of minutes this week to discuss the ideas presented last night in service with your teen. Questions about the message? Email us at ryan@onechurch.tv or caitlin@onechurch.tv !

Monday Minute // Drop Box

So I had a crazy idea! I wondered what I could do to disperse small group curriculum for Relevant Student Ministry without the hassle of printing it out for them. I have a terrible memory. So I needed something where I could load up the Curriculum for the entire semester and they could have access to it and not deal with the confusion of making sure they got the right one. And it eliminated me of having the responsibility to email it every time we start a new series!

I looked into several different options. But inevitably I had some trouble finding a resource that wouldn’t cost me a ton of money! So I found it in Drop Box!

I now have the ability to load my entire Small Group curriculum up to one site for the entire semester and all of my small group leaders can easily find what they are looking for. At the bottom I have included some pictures of how your can organize it so your group leaders can locate what series they are on and have the questions accessible.

4 Reasons I would Suggest Drop Box for Dispersing Curriculum

Its Free – We all have budgets. And for the most part we have a limited amount of money at our disposal! So anytime you can find a great resource to use for free. It’s a win!

Its Mobile – Drop Box has an APP!! And you can have as many apps connected to one account, as you want. So a lot of my small group leaders connected to the account I created on their smart phones and were able to have the curriculum right there ready for them to use. All they had to do was download a free app!

Its Easy – It’s as simple as taking the time to upload files and organize them so it is easy to move through! It really doesn’t take much time and can be made as easy as you want!

It Eliminates Confusion – Sometimes curriculum sites can really create a lot of confusion for people that are not familiar with the site! This eliminates that! This allows you to put up only what is pertinent to your volunteers!

Hope you can use this to help you!

Through the Window- Night 1

Last night Ryan kicked off our first series of the new school year, Through the Window. Remix was packed and we're stoked for a new year with students. God is going to do incredible things  this fall and we're so glad you and your student are a part of it!

WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT:
Here is an overview of what we’re talking about. Listed below the summary is a parent cue to help you dialog with your child about the session. These questions are intended not just to be asked by you, but to be responded to by BOTH of you. Use this opportunity to find out what God is teaching your child, and allow your child to see what God is teaching you as well.

Through the Window:

Series Overview

What comes to mind when you think of the word “worship?” Whether it’s choir robes or skinny jeans, we all have some idea of what worship looks like. For most of us, worship is pretty personal, even if it’s something we have experienced with lots of other people around us. For others, worship is nothing more than singing a few songs every week before hearing a message. But what would happen if we took this idea of worship and blew it up? What if we could rearrange our picture of what worship is and get a fuller view of how we can worship God with our lives, even in the midst of some messy circumstances? Worship can be about expressing praise to God through music but it’s really about so much more. It’s about community. It’s about identity. It’s about letting who God is speak into every part of our wonderful and sometimes complicated lives.

Session 1: We Are Together (8/17/11)
We sit in rows, week after week, singing songs, listening to messages and “doing” church. But what happens when we go home? What happens when real life hits and all of the sudden the idea of “worship” needs to be broader—your definition of who God is needs to be broader? Worship is about us and God, but it’s about so much more. It’s about the past. It’s about the people in our present life and it’s about the activity of our day in and day out world. Worship isn’t just singing songs. Worship is how we live our lives.
Session 1 Parent Cue: How would you define worship? How have you experienced worship, both privately and publicly? Is worship something you enjoy? What do you think of the idea that we can worship God with both music and also with our lives?

Let us know your feedback! Thanks for investing in Relevant Student Ministry!

Remix Open House

For the first time at RELEVANT student ministry we are having an Open House for new middle and high school students! This week we will give parents and teens a chance to hear about our ministry, to get inside info on upcoming event dates, and to meet their small group leaders. We felt like this was a perfect way to help upcoming 6th graders and new students to transition into what we do on Wednesday nights! Entering into a new environment can be scary and intimidating. This is an opportunity to lower the pressure and give an opportunity for students and parents to come and see what we do!!

Our hope is to partner with parents and this is just one more chance to help teens and parents know what we are about. If your go to oneChurch.tv if you live in Clarksville and are looking for a student ministry for your teen then come check out our first ever Remix Open House. Here are the deets!
